1st Advantage’s 4th annual 1st A.I.D.E. Day was a huge success! Each year, 1A colleagues are given the opportunity to spend Columbus Day assisting local non-profit organizations. This annual tradition is now known as 1st A.I.D.E. Day. In honor of 1st A.I.D.E. Day 2011, we worked with three deserving organizations who offer incredible support in our local area: Operation Homefront Hampton Roads, The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula and Relay for Life.
- Operation Homefront Hampton Roads - Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance (food, auto repair, vision care, holiday programs, etc.) to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. To show our support of Operation Homefront, a team of 1A colleagues made nearly 600 homemade cards to be sent to military members. The goal of these cards is to provide comfort and encouragement to our servicemen and women. The team also raised $800 for Operation Homefront, including $500 in grocery store gift cards.
- The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula - The mission of The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula is to distribute food effectively through collaborative efforts that minimize hunger, promote nutrition and self-reliance through education. To show our support of the Foodbank, a team of 1A colleagues collected 1,860 pounds of food items and raised $1,135.92. All donations will be given to the Foodbank.

- Relay for Life - The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. To show our support for Relay, a team of 1A colleagues raised money by selling 41 handmade fleece throws made by 1A colleagues themselves! They also raised $965 for Relay.
1st A.I.D.E Day 2011 was truly a special day for 1A. Giving back to the community is just one of the many ways that we bring philosophy, “Life. Shared.” into the lives of those around us.
