Under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008, it is now mandatory for credit unions and mortgage originating employees to be registered through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). 1st Advantage wants to make our members aware that our credit union is licensed for participating in residential mortgage lending. Our NMLS number is 509408.
After July, you can log onto the NMLS website, http://nmlsconsumeraccess.org/ and type in a 1A colleague’s name to verify that they are registered and licensed to make mortgage loans. Please be aware, however, that as a federally insured deposit taking instituition all employees can discuss mortgage products with you but you will be referred to a licensed employee for mortgage underwriting and processing.
