75-Year Anniversary

“We arrived at Fort Eustis in 1977 and one of the first things we did was sign up for the Fort Eustis Credit Union (FECU). We came from out of state and were transferring from the DOD Air Force. Civil Service to Army Civil Service. We were able to establish credit immediately and had the convenience of banking right on post. What impressed us most then and remain impressed today is the personal helpfulness we received. The personnel were very patient then in getting us the products we needed and explained everything clearly. Almost 50 years later we continue to receive the same professional and personal service…”

“We purchased our home in 1984, with a then Ft Eustis FCU, now 1st Advantage FCU home loan. We refinanced about 4 times, to provide funding for our 4 children to attend college. The original home loan has been paid off, but I am still carrying a 1st Advantage HELOC, which has allowed me to obtain funding for a retirement home. I have also purchased my vehicles with the credit union’s automobile loans. From 1984 to this day, I am still a full-service member of the credit union and even have the same original member number. All 1st Advantage employees have always been helpful, knowledgeable, and professional in my opinion.”

My military career has moved me to other locations, but I have never felt the need to close my accounts or make any other financial institution my main place to do business. Since my retirement the name has changed, but the service continues to improve to meet my financial needs. Thank you all for professional service and care for our needs and the community.”

I used my Fort Eustis Federal Credit Union / 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union account for most of my 30 years as a civil servant. Over the years, I used automatic payroll deposit for my checking account. I opened a savings account, car loans and purchased insurance. When a car loan was satisfied, I continued depositing the same dollar amount into savings. This little nest egg and the resale of the car were the basis for my next auto down payment.

Often when I got a raise, I deposited all or part of the additional money into the savings account, trying to live on the previous salary.

Call a Teller and online apps have enabled me to maintain my account through moves across the state and across the country. I still have my original paper membership card. 60 years, going for 70!
